Then Poseidon violated her in Athena’s temple and Athena — in the cruel logic of a world that punished women for the sins committed against them — transformed her into the creature we know. Serpents for hair. A gaze that turned men to stone. A monster made, not born.
Perseus killed her. Athena wore her head as armour. And somewhere in that story, across three thousand years of retelling, Medusa stopped being a warning and became something far more interesting — a symbol of power reclaimed, of beauty weaponised, of a woman the world tried to destroy and could not quite silence.
