Tradition You Can Carry
Eftehnon — Handmade Komboloi by Maria Papakosta
Some objects are meant to be held. The komboloi has always been exactly that — a quiet companion for the hands, a small rhythm to steady the day. This collection brings you the work of Maria Papakosta, a Greek maker who has devoted nearly three decades to the craft, first alongside Athens' most respected komboloi houses and, since 2024, under her own workshop name, Εύτεχνον — "finely wrought." From her bench in the heart of Athens, each piece is strung by hand from natural materials chosen for their warmth and character: aged ebony and coconut wood, camel bone, picture jasper, and other honest, tactile beads, finished with sterling silver 925 details and hand-tied silk tassels. No two are quite the same, and every one carries the mark of a maker who treats her work with sensitivity, patience, and genuine love for the tradition.
Rooted in folk and Byzantine aesthetics yet made to live in modern hands, these komboloi are more than beautiful — they are meant to be worn smooth over years, passed between fingers and, one day, between generations. Curated with culture, crafted with care, each is a piece of Greece you can carry with you.
