Leonard Cohen came for a summer and stayed for years. Before him, painters, poets, and writers from across the world found their way to this car-free island in the Saronic Gulf and discovered something they had not expected — a place that demanded nothing of them except that they pay attention. No traffic. No noise. Just stone architecture, donkeys on cobbled paths, and a harbour that has looked essentially the same since the 18th century.
Hydra does not chase the modern world. It simply waits for the modern world to come to its senses.
