No god in the Greek pantheon asked more of himself. Or inspired more in others.
Apollo did not specialise. While the other gods claimed their domain and defended it, Apollo presided over light, music, poetry, prophecy, healing, and truth — not because he collected titles but because the Greeks understood these things to be expressions of the same force. The force that drives a musician to play until the piece is right. That compels a poet to find the exact word rather than an approximate one. That insists, quietly and persistently, that things can be done better than they are being done.
That force has a name. The Greeks called it Apollo.
