Sophia Paschou hails from the vibrant city of Athens, Greece, where she initially pursued her academic journey at the Faculty of Applied Arts and Design, specializing in Interior Architecture, Decorative Arts, and Design at Athens University. Her quest for knowledge extended to Leicester Polytechnic in the UK, where she delved into the intricacies of scenography for television studios.
With a solid foundation in interior design amassed over several years, her artistic journey took an unexpected turn when she ventured into the realm of jewellery creation, fuelled by a personal desire for self-expression. A pivotal moment in her creative evolution occurred when she discovered needle weaving, prompting her to commit to the exclusive exploration of this technique and the development of handwoven jewellery.
Her artistic vision draws inspiration from the natural world, music, and folk art, resulting in the creation of contemporary forms. In her pursuit of uniqueness, she utilizes a diverse array of materials, including linen, cotton, silk, and wool. Each piece of jewellery is meticulously crafted on a tiny self-improvised loom, ensuring its individuality and originality.
Having showcased her creations in numerous art exhibitions both in Greece and abroad, she continues to evolve as an artist, driven by a passion for innovation and a dedication to the intricate artistry of handwoven jewellery.
