The tsarouhi is one of the most recognisable objects in Greek culture — the shoe of the evzones, the presidential guard who have stood at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier since 1868. Caroline Rovithi understood this instinctively. Tsarouchi Air is her collision of the ancient and the contemporary — the ceremonial footwear of Greek independence rendered in the visual language of modern sneaker culture.
