Maro Kornilaki was born in Rethymno, Crete. She currently lives in Heraklion, where she creates her artwork.

For a number of years, she styled as an interior decorator and, from 2010, has exclusively been engaged with the creation of jewellery.Her homeland, Crete, with its rich history and diverse landscape, is for her an inexhaustible source of inspiration and encouragement for experimentation with materials and mixed techniques for her creations.

Having apprenticed with weavers of Crete and traditional artisans of jewellery and ceramics, she chooses to experiment with materials such as silver, brass, porcelain, stoneware clay, flax, silk or cotton. she combines them in small or larger three-dimensional surfaces resulting in wearable jewellery and occasionally freestanding art objects.

She has participated in numerous exhibitions and collaborates with museums and art galleries in Greece, as well as abroad.
