The Cycladic head is one of the most enduring and quietly radical forms in art history — abstract, almost featureless, yet unmistakably human. Carved in marble on the Greek islands thousands of years ago, these forms feel as modern today as anything in contemporary sculpture. This handcrafted piece by Kate Momitsa honours that iconic shape, decorating each one individually using the Ebru technique, where colour is swept across water before being captured on the surface in flowing, unrepeatable patterns.
Standing 17 cm tall, the spare geometry of the Cycladic head is transformed by the movement of Ebru colour into something vivid and contemporary — while remaining deeply rooted in ancient heritage. Every piece is entirely unique: the patterns can never be recreated.
